Pokémon Press Conference Lays Out Future Pokemon Projects

The Pokémon Company has just held their Pokémon Press Conference 2019. The conference revealed several projects that are upcoming in the next year. Here are the major announcements:

A brand-new Detective Pikachu game has been announced for the Nintendo Switch. The game will resolve the cliffhanger that the original Detective Pikachu game ended on. As of yet there is no release date announced for the game, and no game play has been shown.

Pokémon Home is a new cloud-based hub that allows players to upload their Pokémon from Pokémon Bank, Pokémon Go, Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee, and Pokémon Sword and Shield. The program will allow users to trade there stored Pokémon from anywhere as long as they have their phone. Pokémon Home is scheduled to launch in early 2020.

Pokémon Sleep is a new game being developed by Select Button, the developers of Pokémon Magikarp Jump. The game will measure the time the user spends sleeping and turn that into fun interacts with Pokémon.

Nintendo is developing the Poke Ball Pluss + hardware that functions as a regular Poke Ball Plus and uses accelerometer and gyroscopic technology to measure the user’s sleep. Pokémon Sleep is set to release in 2020.

Pokémon Masters is a new mobile game being developed by DeNA and The Pokémon Company. The project came from Pokémon Designer Ken Sugimori’s idea to create a game where all of the trainers from past Pokémon games come together. The game play seems to be a three-on-three turn-based battle system where players team up with famous Pokémon Trainers and battle. The trainers can use super attacks resembling Z-Moves from Pokémon Sun and Moon. Pokémon Masters is scheduled to release later this year, whit more news coming sometime in June.

NetEase will be developing a port of Pokémon Quest designed for mobile phones in China.

A new Pokémon Center location is opening in Shibuya

There will be a continued relationship between Toho Pictures and The Pokémon Company to develop Pokémon movies.

The Pokémon Shirts line that was recently launched in Japan and Asian territories has been announced for North America and Europe, with other territories to follow.
